your first Orthodontic visit

We look forward to meeting you at your first visit to our office. During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. We understand that each patient's orthodontic treatment is different, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve.

The new patient examination takes about an hour. One of our amazing scheduling coordinators will greet you and gather the preliminary information we need to best serve you. You will then meet with one of our knowledgeable treatment coordinators Dr. Seuss. During your initial examination, advanced digital imaging will be taken and your orthodontist will conduct a complete and thorough orthodontic examination.  After we have completed your evaluation, we will provide you with an orthodontic treatment recommendation, and an estimated length of treatment time and review with you the investment you can expect to make in your orthodontic treatment.

This important visit will allow the orthodontist to determine if this is the right time to begin treatment.

Most of the time there are recommendations to begin with orthodontic treatment or to be placed in our 'Growth and Guidance' program as we wait for future dental growth and development. The 'Growth and Guidance' program usually involves children with primarily early dentition, meaning they do not have all of their permanent teeth, and Phase I treatment is not recommended.

During your first visit, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment.

  • Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?

  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?

  • What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?

  • Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?

  • How long will treatment take?

  • How much will it cost?

  • What are my payment options?

We encourage questions from both the patient and parents and as such, we provide ample time to answer your questions. We want our patients to be comfortable with their treatment plan and our office, thus, your first appointment is focused on providing you with all the information necessary to make a well-educated decision on what is best for you and your child.

Open Communication

We believe that good orthodontic care begins with open communication. We promise to speak candidly with you about our diagnosis and recommendations, any alternative treatments and any symptoms present that may require further treatment. Working together, we can achieve a true partnership, with one common goal – helping you achieve a beautiful, confident smile!
